It's been a crazy year. I've published four books since I last did anything with my DA account. I've had a baby, and my husband's out of the country teaching for two semesters. So, yes, a little weird.
But none of that is relevant to DA. What is, is I'm getting an SLR camera for Christmas. It's a hand-me-down from a family member who does professional photography, but I'm excited! This will be my first foray into the world of lenses, shutter speeds, and real photography. In advance, a big THANK YOU! to everyone who posts tutorials on DA, I've been perusing those. There are a lot of fun shoots that I'm planning out and the tutorials are a big help.
If anything turns out well, I'll be sure to post it here.

Autumn...

It's cold again. Have I mentioned how much I truly hate the cold? The only bright side to the wintery weather is that it's costume time. I love costumes! In preparation for the big night of candy grabbing we're trying out costumes, makeup, and looks. Pictures will be posted with costume ideas as I work on them.

Camera Hunting

My beloved point-n-shoot camera that's been my constant companion lo these many years is AWOL.
I suspect it fell victim to the ravages of the toddler who likes to throw things out. I'm headed out to find an upgrade. It's been 5 years since I went camera hunting, but my budget hasn't improved that much. That means the shiny camera I want is still out of reach.

The weather is turning warmer, the flowers are blooming, and I am finally coming out of creativity hibernation!
It feels good to be playing with my camera again. I have some new photo-editing software, and I'm hunting for a new camera.

Not in this post, just so you know.
My writing goal for the past year is 312k words, starting last November 1st with NaNoWriMo. I'm still 19k short. I have 30 days. It's doable.
I just wanted to say a quick thank you to all the visual artists on DA. I try to be as good as you, but I'm not. I'm really here for the inspiration. If I collected your work as a favorite, you inspired an idea somewhere. If I haven't collected your work, I've probably browsed through and enjoyed it nonetheless.
